DL® Exchange-Kalender
This is an interface to calendar applications based on MS Exchange optimized for visually impaired and blind people.
Several functions in connection with appointments and calendar overview can be used by blind people either not at all or only with restrictions. The popular appointment management of MS Outlook, which often uses MS Exchange as a database, is the de facto standard in many public authorities and companies. Due to so-called scripting (screen reader adaptation), the full functionality of Outlook cannot be made accessible to blind people.
DL® Exchange Calendar provides access to the data used by the employees in the authority or company and presents the information in a user interface specially optimized for the blind. This special interface thus offers an alternative communication channel to the appointment data and enables the blind to cooperate smoothly with sighted people.
Functions of DL® Exchange-Calender
- Simple search for an employee to display their calendar.
- The view can be configured individually. The user can add more calendars to view the appointments of multiple people.
- The user can set a list view or a tabular view. In tabular view, each employee calendar then has a column. The choice of the view depends, among other things, on whether one works primarily with speech output or with Braille display.
- Calendars of employees can be created as favorites to be able to open them quickly. This also applies to groups.
- Appointment requests for individuals and groups can be created and edited if the user has the appropriate write permissions.
- The user interface contains a number of special functions that compensate for blindness-related speed disadvantages and avoid possible errors. For example, if the user creates an appointment request for a group, the interface warns if there is a holiday in the state of one or more of the participants.
- The user can log on to the system either by entering a user name and password or automatically via the Windows logon if it is running synchronously with Exchange.
This is what STeffan Erzgraber says
The current DL Exchange has made working with my professional calendar so easy that I can do a lot more things myself. The interface is tidy, incredibly fast and intuitive to use. (Steffen Erzgraber, August 2021)
