Projects in cooperation with BFW Würzburg
Successful rehabilitation projects by Draeger Lienert in cooperation with Berufsförderungswerk Würzburg.
In all the cases described, the persons concerned underwent a vocational rehabilitation measure at the Berufsförderungswerk Würzburg GmbH in Veitshöchheim after the onset of a visual impairment or blindness. Subsequently, they were equipped with individually adapted aids and either found a new job or were able to return to their original job. The technical equipment was provided by the Draeger Lienert company in coordination with BFW Würzburg and in cooperation with other companies.
From baker to fitness trainer
A baker goes blind. He undergoes a one-year basic rehabilitation program for the blind at BFW Würzburg and then six months of retraining as a physiotherapist. Afterwards he finds a job in a fitness center. He is equipped with a notebook, the screen reader Window-Eyes, an iPad and various talking or sounding objects, such as medicine balls with bells. Exercise equipment will be labeled in Braille. For better orientation in the gym, a guidance system from the company ILIS is installed. The blind employee is integrated into the team after only a few weeks and has already introduced new courses in the studio.
Obtaining a job at the savings bank
A deputy manager of a savings bank goes blind. At BFW Würzburg, he completes a one-year basic training course in blind technology. After a subsequent integration measure at BFW, he continues to work at the savings bank. Since the software of the Sparkasse cannot be made accessible, his field of work changes. From now on, he works in the area of employee qualification. Here he develops training concepts and conducts seminars himself. Zusätzlich hat er eine Ausbildung zum Wirtschaftsmediator erfolgreich abgeschlossen, wodurch sich sein Tätigkeitsgebiet erweitert. The now blind employee was equipped with the screen reader Jaws and a Focus Braille display from the company Freedom Scientific by Rohrmüller. Draeger Lienert supplied DL® EasyTask with additional modules, enabling the user to achieve a working speed that allows him to work as a seminar instructor. Access to legal texts he realizes with DL® Law.
A telephone switchboard at a judicial authority
A severely visually impaired participant would like to return to work after a long baby break. She finds a job in the telephone switchboard at a judicial authority in Bavaria and successfully takes on additional organizational work there. The telephone operator uses ZoomText as magnification software. With the electronic telephone directory D® ETB, she has direct access to the extensions of the justice authority as well as to subject areas and responsibilities. The telephone exchange is handled completely via DL® ETB from Draeger Lienert.
A CAD workstation
A technical draftsman succeeds in using his visual test so optimally that he can continue to work for an industrial company in northern Hesse after a vocational integration measure at BFW Würzburg. He uses ZoomText from AI Squared as a magnification system, DL® EasyTask as an ergonomic product to call up the drawing tools of the CAD program and speed up work processes, and the Topolino Flex screen reader from the Reinecker company. The employer is very pleased with the person's performance - the job is retained.
A machine setter changes to the human resources department
A machine setter suffers a significant loss of visual acuity. He has worked for many years at a large industrial company in Nuremberg. At the BFW, he learns Braille and blind work techniques and completes a measure for individual work qualification. As part of an integration measure carried out by BFW Würzburg, he works his way into a new area of responsibility in the personnel department of his company. The Papenmeier company equips him with the Jaws screen reader and a Braillex 80c Braille display. Draeger Lienert supplies DL® EasyTask and sets up direct access for him to various industry programs for personnel administration. In addition, the user uses a screen reader to read written job applications.
From motor vehicle electrician to police officer
A motor vehicle electrician suffers a severe loss of vision and undergoes basic training in blind technology at BFW Würzburg, followed by retraining as an administrative assistant. At the Federal Police in Würzburg, he is initially given a probationary employment contract. Equipped with the Cobra screen reader, a Braille display from Baum, the Videomatic screen reader from Reinecker and an integration under Citrix, which is carried out in close coordination between Draeger Lienert and Baum Retec, he succeeds in convincing the employer of his capabilities. After a six-month probationary period, he is pleased to receive a permanent employment contract.
